Introduction
Happy Mount Colony is a NPO facility taking care of 128 mentally disabled people, located in Bali, New Taipei City. Happy Mount Colony was constructed in 1934 by Dr. George Gushue-Taylor. In the beginning, this was a hospital for lepers. From 1955, it became a NPO facility that takes care of people with physically disabled, mentally disabled, autistic, and some attention deficit hyperactivity disorder for 24 hours.
Taipei Happy Mount is an over 80 year-old Christian NPO facility taking care of mentally disabled children, located in Bali, New Taipei City.
Taipei Happy Mount was constructed in 1932 by Dr. George Gushue-Taylor. In the beginning, this is a hospital for lepers. But from 1934, it becomes a NPO (Non-Profit Organization) facility. Now a day, there are around 128 service users here in 2019. They are physically disabled, mentally disabled, autistic, and some are attention deficit hyperactivity disorder as well.

Community oriented adjustment
According to the needs of each service users, professionals in Taipei Happy Mount set plans for developing community-based adaptation of the users. By Integrating Community Resource Network, a monthly schedule of outdoor leisure activities (such as restaurants, karaoke ok, interactive community activities, etc.) has been planned to help service users participate more in the community. Besides, professionals will regularly schedule leisure and tourism activities to release their physical and mental stress, and increase friendship of the members.
Medical Care
Taipei Happy Mount has employed appointed health professionals and physical therapists to provide regular medical examinations, tracking individual health condition and having health management and other related matters. Through careful medical network, Taipei Happy Mount provides the most immediate medical care to the service users. Moreover, services also include regular health checks with doctors' prescription.
Professional intervention
Taipei Happy Mount has employed professional license music therapists, occupational therapists, physical therapists to provide better professional services, in addition to develop various types of therapy courses such as dance therapy, art therapy, drama therapy, horticultural therapy and pet therapy, etc. Through the execution of these courses, Taipei Happy Mount wish to provide more comprehensive service to the service users
Living Service
Taipei Happy Mount has employed classified educare givers and assistants in three shifts around the clock to provide special education and life care services. As for those who had weaker cognitive abilities, educare givers will plan individually according to their different needs, such as training for basic living, also provide life care assistance for them. As for those with extreme severe obstacles, they must rely on aids or lay in bed.
Current Classes
LOHAS group
This group includes service users who have low motivation to participate in activities of daily living skill training, maintain and sustain their living capacity by recreation events, multi-sensory activities, basic self-care activities and housework doing planned from Individualized Family Service Plan (I. F. S. P.).
Caring group
This group includes service users who are very severe mental retardation and multiple disabilities that also have to rely on wheelchairs to move around. The courses of this group provide customized services by age, the degree of disorder and learning situation in order to enhance their physical movements, the development of interpersonal communication, cognitive and leisure condition, etc.
Tutoring group
This group includes service users who are severe or very severe mental retardation and multiple disabilities that still in the period of school age, and provides courses which may support and review of the school curriculum; strengthen living skills of daily life; maintain health condition and physical ability; have leisure activities; cultivate habits and skills learning; conduct community resilience training that into the community.
Life Counseling Group
This group includes service users above 15-years-old who are severe or very severe mental retardation and multiple disabilities, and provides courses which focus on self-care training mainly with leisure activities supplement as support.
Skills cultivating Group
This group includes service users above 15-years-old who are moderate to severe, or severe mental retardation and multiple disabilities (but can deal with basic daily living by themselves) and provides courses which strengthen their capacity, social adaptability and skills training. This group is classified as: Happy Laundry Square, Loving Cleaning Squadron, Agronomic Class, and Angels Hand-made Workshop
